Price range: $332.50 through $350.00

Internal Auditor Training to Strengthen Compliance

Internal audits are a core expectation across GFSI-benchmarked food safety standards. They verify that your site is doing what it says it is doing, identify gaps before a certification audit, and create documented accountability through objective evidence.

This food safety internal auditor training is offered as either:

or

  • BRCGS Food Safety Internal Auditor Training (our BRCGS Training Course is a prerequisite for this training)

Courses do not teach both standards in the same session. Each scheduled date is designated as either SQF or BRCGS, so you can register for the version that matches your certification program.

Choose Your Course: SQF or BRCGS

SQF Internal Auditor Training

SQF requires documented methods and responsibility for scheduling and conducting internal audits to verify the effectiveness of the SQF System. Internal audits must be conducted at least annually, and SQFI recommends conducting them throughout the year.

BRCGS Food Safety Internal Auditor Training

BRCGS expects internal audits to be conducted on at least four different audit dates spread throughout the year (not one audit covering everything). Internal audits must cover the food safety/HACCP plan, prerequisite programs, and procedures used to achieve the Standard’s requirements.

Who Needs This Course?

This internal auditor training is designed for food industry professionals responsible for auditing, verifying, or maintaining a GFSI-aligned food safety system, including:

  • SQF practitioners or BRCGS practitioners and site food safety leads
  • QA/QC managers and supervisors
  • HACCP team members and program owners (allergen, sanitation, supplier approval, traceability)
  • Operations leaders supporting audit readiness

What You’ll Learn

This course teaches practical internal auditing skills you can apply immediately, regardless of whether you take the SQF or BRCGS version.

  1. Internal Auditing Fundamentals for GFSI Programs
  • Learn the purpose and scope of internal auditing and how it differs from supplier, customer, and certification body audits.
  1. Planning an Internal Audit Program
  • Learn how to build an audit schedule based on risk, establish trigger points for additional audits, and plan timing so corrective actions can be completed before your next certification audit.
  1. Conducting Effective Audits On Site
  • Learn how to audit programs instead of defending them, verify that practices match procedures, and avoid the common causes of failed internal audits.
  1. Objective Evidence, Nonconformities, and Reporting
  • Learn what counts as objective evidence (records, programs, observations, interviews), how to document conformity and nonconformity, and how to write fact-based audit reports.
  1. Corrective Actions and Follow-Up
  • Learn how to document corrective actions with responsible persons and due dates, verify completion, and manage follow-up actions (re-audit, cover in next audit, or trigger additional audits).
