24 hours a day, 365 days per year

Food Safety Net Services (FSNS) laboratories are ISO/IEC 17025 accredited through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation and each lab is routinely audited to ensure our team delivers the highest level of technical acumen and verification of results.

All FSNS laboratories are open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and are staffed by our highly skilled experts who work closely with each customer to meet their individual needs for testing and method selection. FSNS customers appreciate having direct access to their FSNS lab manager, a scientist who can discuss both the technical and service aspects of your testing order. Each of these measures is designed to create a better overall testing experience for you.

Additionally, FSNS understands the importance of having timely and up-to-the-moment individualized access to Certificates of Analysis and data. Through FSNet, customers can quickly and easily analyze their data and generate customized reports.

Accreditations and certifications within our network of laboratories include:

  • A2LA: ISO/IEC 17025, accredited for biological and chemical testing
  • FSIS approved laboratory
  • USDA AMS approved laboratory
  • USDA LAS accredited laboratory
  • USDA FSIS food chemistry accredited
  • USDA PERPLab program
  • ASTA program member

Timely and accurate test results

FSNS implements official methodologies of analysis including AOAC, USDA-FSIS, FDA, ASTA, USP, Compendium, ISO, and other published methods. Each of our labs is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to provide timely and accurate test results.

FSNS microbiology labs screen for pathogenic microorganism using various technologies including: DNA-based detection via BioControl GDS platform and the DuPont Qualicon BAX platform, RNA-based detection via the ROKA Bioscience Atlas technology, and antigen-based detection via the bioMeriuex VIDAS platform, the BioControl Thunderbolt platform, and other ELISA-based kits.

For quantitative methods, laboratories use traditional plating methods (pour plating, spread plating, and spiral plating), 3M Petrifilm plates, and the bioMeriuex Tempo platform.

FSNS chemistry labs use High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma – Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), and Gas Chromatography with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS/MS) for all analytical testing needs.

Microbiology Testing

FSNS microbiology analyzing and testing capabilities include: qualitative pathogen detection, quantitative enumeration of indicator and spoilage organisms, microbiological toxins, and special microbiological services.

Chemistry Testing

FSNS Chemistry analyzing and testing capabilities include fat and water soluble vitamins, contaminants, allergen testing, proximate testing, additives, carbohydrates, sweeteners, minerals, metals, heavy metals, fats, oils, and rancidity.

Nutritional Labeling

FSNS laboratories provides complete NLEA nutritional label testing. Whether launching a new product or redesigning your packaging, FSNS labs are ready to assist with your unique label requirements. Complete NLEA label testing is competitively priced and is completed in an optimal turnaround time. We will determine the nutritional components and their amounts using chemical analysis for your product. A NLEA nutritional panel will be provided in accordance with FDA reference serving size or the serving size requested by customer.

Additionally, database nutritional labeling can be provided upon completion of the NLEA nutritional labels. This method consists of a series of computerized calculations to determine the nutrient content of your product based upon the written recipe.

A nutrition fact label will be generated from the results in a high-resolution jpeg image.
